I believe people have an inherent need to connect with others. Unfortunately, life events can get in the way of this desired connection. Through the open process of therapy I find we can become aware of the roadblocks which keep us stuck and by finding new ways of interacting we can create fulfilling relationships we all seek. Whether the disconnect is with our partner, our family, our child(ren) or ourselves there is an opportunity for a more relatable, enjoyable and loving bond possible.
Your therapeutic counseling sessions can be in person at my Danville office or by telehealth video sessions for your convenience. I strive to create a relaxing and pressure free atmosphere for you to share at your own pace. Goals are created by you and I will be by your side as we work collaboratively to obtain your goals.
Each individual has their own unique situation and needs and therefore I offer different services to fit your individual needs. I offer individual therapy for children, teens and adults as well as couples and families. I enjoy working with children and their parents/guardians in child therapy to improve attachment relationships and help each member of the family feel more understood, validated and loved. I can assist parents as they navigate the ever-changing world of parenting and develop strategies of success unique to each individual child. I also truly value the opportunity to help new parents create beautiful bonds with their baby on the way, expelling triggers that might block connections between parents and infant.
Memories and emotional traumas are stored in different parts of the brain and this can create difficulties in articulating your world and navigating a way forward. That is why I also have different forms of therapy in my office to you to explore.
Sandtray therapy does not focus on talk therapies and allows your unconscious to create scenes in the sand of your inner world and your view of your reality. It can allow for new ways of looking at the struggles that keep you stuck and provide self-reflection and healing. This multidimensional experience uses figurines as archetypes that that speak to you and provide emotional meaning in a predominately nonverbal process. Sandtray Therapy is a powerful and beneficial process for all ages.
This is a very different experience than an art class where you focus on technique. It is the process of creating the art rather than the finished product that is beneficial, and skill is not needed. Language processing, emotional processing and creative processing all use different areas of the brain. Art therapy can help integrate these brain structures to bridge the gap between these processes. Clients report an integrated sense of resolve when adding art therapy to their experience of therapy. Art modalities include paint, chalk, colored pencils, pencils, markers and collage. Art therapy is helpful for all ages and works well in conjunction with talk therapy.
